Yaquina Bay Lighthouse

Located in Yaquina Bay State Recreation Site in Newport, this is the second oldest standing lighthouse on the Oregon coast. It is also the oldest building in Newport. This unique lighthouse was only in service from 1871 to 1874 when the Yaquina Head Light was built on the north side of Newport.

This is the only lighthouse in Oregon to be both the light and the keeper's house with the tower sitting atop the roof of the two-story home. It is also Oregon's only remaining historic wooden lighthouse.

The light was relit by the Coast Guard in 1996 and the house is a museum open daily throughout the year. Tour guides give a brief history of the light and then you are free to tour both floors which are filled with period antiques.

A gift shop and interpretive center are located in the basement.
